WRAL News in Raleigh, NC reports on the recent Obama speech at NC State announcing a group project involving 6 universities and 18 private-sector companies. This group will lead a new manufacturing innovation institute. This decision will lead to a large number of new local jobs in the future here in the Triangle area and Research Triangle Park.  They say, "The Next Generation Power Electronics Innovation Institute will help companies and universities invest in manufacturing technology and develop cutting-edge electronics to boost efficiencies and spur hiring."

"In response to a call for action by President Barack Obama, US2020, an organization aimed at creating the high-tech work force of tomorrow, has chosen Research Triangle Park as a STEM mentoring hot spot," writes a writer for Triangle Business Journal. Along with 7 other communities, RTP has won a big mentoring grant that will increase local mentoring in STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. RTP is set on becoming an even bigger technology hotspot as a result of this victory.
